Math test on chapter 1 will be Friday. Make sure your third grader is reading every night! Progress reports will go home Friday. Please return them signed. Reading calendars due this week! They must be signed by a parent. We will be doing an edible landform project on Friday. We appreciate anything you can donate. Look for a note going home tomorrow. The students all seem to be adjusting well to their new classrooms and schedules! They should be doing homework every night. Check their assignment notebooks. Make sure they are recording their reading minutes on the calendar from the front of the assignment notebooks. Practice addition facts and rounding at home. UPCOMING TESTS: spelling test- Thursday Reading vocab and comprehension tests- Friday Thank you to all the third grade parents and students that came to open house! It was so nice to meet you! We look forward to seeing all the third graders on Tuesday morning! Enjoy your last weekend of summer! The Third Graders were assigned an Olympic Scavenger Hunt for their research project for third quarter. The project consists of 15 questions that they need to answer. The 2014 Winter Olympics start tomorrow and go until Feb. 23. The project is due by Feb. 26. Please assist them in finding the answers to the questions using TV, internet, and newspapers. Thank you for your help! This week we will finish reading Charlotte's Web! Our students have really enjoyed the book. On Friday, we will be taking the final test and having a County Fair! They can come to school dressed like farmers and should bring their prized pig! We will have a contest, watch the movie, and have some other fun activities! We have also finished multiplication! Your child should have all facts 1-12 memorized! It is very important for their future success in math. In Science, we are learning about plants. We will have a test on chapter 1 next week. We hope everyone had a nice break. We have been very busy settling into our new rooms. The addition is beautiful! It is great to be back at Hale. Here is what we are doing this week: Reading- We are reading the novel Charlotte's Web. We have read chapters 1-7. Math- We are working on the X9s! Study your facts. We are also starting chapter 7, reading data and graphs. Social Studies- We are learning about Martin Luther King Jr. Reminders for next week: Monday- No School Martin Luther King Day Thursday- The second quarter ends. Friday- No School- Professional Development Thank you! This week we are reading The Mysterious Garden of Abdul Gasazi. Please read this story at home. We will be working on the 8 fact. Keep studying. We will be moving back to Hale over winter break! Students will report to Hale on January 6th! They should go in the main doors. Have a wonderful Holiday! |
